Ice Fog

For about a week, we have had a beautiful ice fog at our house. It comes dawn like fine talcum powder and coats everything. The temperatures have been below freezing all the time, so it sticks around. Looks like winter.

Lovely photos, Vance. Here inNorthern Nevada this occurrence is known by the Native American word "Pogonip". The Indians believed that if one were to inhale the outdoors air while the ice remained on the vegetation one's lungs would ice up and death would follow. I don't know of anyone who has tested this theory as it it usually much too cold to remain outside long enoug for it to happen. Just thought you might like to know this bit of Indian lore if you hadn't already.
